Native American Community Meal
September’s Community Meal will highlight traditional Native American foods and locally grown produce. The meal will be served from 5:30 pm to 7 pm at the Faith Lutheran Church, 108 West 8th St. in Morris on Monday, September 25, 2017, in collaboration with volunteers, Morris Healthy Eating, Circle of Nations Indigenous Association, American Indian Science and Engineering Society, and Office of Community Engagement. Community Meals are warm, made-from-scratch meals that are free and open to all members of the Morris and Stevens County community. For this event, we would be serving Bountiful Harvest Squash Soup, Savory Wild Rice with Root Vegetables, served w/o bison, Marinated Garden Salad with tomatoes, peppers, carrots and yellow summer squash and Maple-glazed Squash Bars.
However, the food items are subjected to change depending on the availability of ingredients.
Look for emails as the event nears for the chance to volunteer preparing, serving, and cleaning up after the meal.
