45th Annual Midwest Philosophy Colloquium: Earth Day Special Event

Karen Kovaka (Virginia Tech) will give a public lecture entitled "Just Leave it Alone? Interpreting Evidence about the Effectiveness of Conservation Interventions".

Karen Kovaka is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Virginia Tech. Her research is focused on a number of big questions in life science and environmental science, such as: How do disciplines like biology and ecology manage to come to grips with the messy, chaotic, and complex phenomena that they study? How can we use results from these sciences to solve social and environmental problems? What does the general public need to know about life science and environmental science? What does meaningful public participation in science look like?
