Affordable Course Content Workshop
With the beginning of a new semester, Briggs librarians and Pam Gades (IT) are partnering to announce a new initiative : Investigate, promote and support more affordable and readily accessible course content and resources in order to enhance the teaching and learning mission of University of Minnesota, Morris. While, this represents an extension of long-standing goals held by both units, it now means being more intentional about assisting faculty in offering content selection options and addressing the student retention issue of financially challenging textbook costs.
To that end, please consider attending this workshop. It will be given by Kristi Jensen (Program Development Lead, eLearning Support Initiative) and Nancy Sims (Copyright Program Librarian) from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Libraries. They will explain a range of options for making course content more affordable, including discussing the possibilities of using Open Educational Resources that are increasingly utilized in higher education. The recent development of a Library Resources Link in Canvas course pages makes it possible to provide more streamlined connections to available resources. A related benefit is greater awareness and utilization of resources already available through existing library online licenses and subscriptions.
Please join us for all or part of this workshop. If your schedule does not permit attending, we welcome any and all conversations on how this initiative could be of assistance in your specific courses.
