Honors Lectures Series, Paul Z. Myers
Dr. Paul Z. Myers, Biology, will deliver the third lecture in the Honors lecture series, "Of Family." His talk is entitled "Of Boundaries." How do we categorize and oversimplify a plastic, fluid world? The lines we often draw are convenient to us, but they're not real.
PZ Myers is a biologist who convinced UMM to hire him 23 years ago, and they haven't been able to get rid of him since. He previously did much shorter stints at the University of Oregon, University of Utah, and Temple University. He's also a human being, and has the trophies to prove it: the International Humanist Award (2011) and Humanist of the Year award (2009). Nowadays he is obsessed with spiders.
